| The history of SWBC is understood to have begun in the mid-fifteenth
century; but on its present site in the year 1774. In June of that year,
4 cottages and an orchard were purchased by a Miss Elizabeth Fuller of Saffron Walden.
The plot was at the junction of Cucking Stool End and Bailey's
Lane,
as marked in red on the image below. |

| In the same year the Georgian Chapel was build on
the plot of ground and opened for worship in the November. The building is still in use today. |

| The main chapel in use today was built in 1879
over the graveyard shown in the picture above. It cost £4000. A major
renovation of the building was completed in November 2003. |
