Community pastors are trained volunteers from local churches, including the Baptist church, who care about their community. They patrol in teams of men and women, any time between 7.30pm and 1am on most Friday evenings to care for, listen to and help people who are out on the streets of Saffron Walden. They offer non-judgemental reassurance, safety and support through being a listening ear or offering practical support. Teams also operate regularly during the day time each week on the Greater Anglia rail network, in the town centre, at Saffron Walden Town FC at home football matches and other local events. They also work in partnership with professional organisations to make the community of Saffron Walden safer.
